Sunday Funnies

I have a confession to make.

I have a lot of yarn.

I have so much sock yarn I could knit a pair of socks a week, and still not run out of sock yarn for years.

I can safely say that I have reached STABLE (STash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy).
But after all,

Happy Sunday!

Friday Finishes

I haven't done one of these in a long time!  I have two pairs of socks to show you today.  Both pairs have been finished this year for Winter Camp.

The first pair is made from Opal sock yarn in their Rain Forest line.  From what I can determine (mostly from Google Translate) the colour is called "Darling".

The second pair is also made from Opal sock yarn from the Best Friends line.  The colour is called "Trust".

I love working with Opal sock yarn.  It's nice to knit with, and I love their colours.  The challenge with Opal is that since the repeats in their patterns tend to be very long finding exactly where to start the second sock so that they match can take more patience than I have some days.  It's worth it, though, when I put the socks beside each other and they match.

The pattern I use for my socks is based on Kate Atherley's Basic Ribbed Socks.  I've modified it a bit in the heel and toes to fit me better.  What I love about this pattern is that I can just sit and knit on it without having to worry if I've missed some repeat.  Excellent TV knitting!

I'm Back!

Hello people!  I'm back!

I've been busy the last few months.  I did finish the sweater in time for NaKniSweMo.

And then got sucked into finishing my Christmas knitting.  Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the presents before they were given away.  I also did an advent calendar that was a mini skein of yarn per day.  I did manage to get all 24 skeins added to my scrappy blanket before the end of the year.

Starting January 1, I joined Winter Camp on Ravelry.  So far I've completed two pairs of socks and I'm working on a third pair.  I'm also working on another sweater; same pattern, different colour yarn.

Tomorrow, pictures of finished socks!  Have a lovely Thursday!

Sunday Funnies-- NaKniSweMo!

Happy Sunday!

I've been bad at blogging this month.  At the end of October, I came across the mention of NaKniSweMo.  The idea is based on NaNoWriMo where amateur writers around the world attempt to write a novel during the month of November.

Several years back, Knitgrrl decided she had enough novels, and needed a sweater.  So she created NaKniSweMo!  Her rules were simple (from her blog):

-You can pick your yarn and your pattern--you can wind your yarn into cakes, you can even swatch--but you can't cast on until November first.
-NaNoWriMo attempts to do a 50,000 word novel in a month.  We do 50,000+ stitches.  Most sweaters easily qualify.
-Sweater has to be finished by the end of the month.

I decided that this sounded like a fun challenge..so I've been working all month on my sweater (wow, that was a long explanation of why I haven't been blogging this month!)

Anyway...sweater related cartoons seemed appropriate today.  So off to Google Images I went, and found these...

and I've been very good, and haven't brought my project to work so this hasn't happened (although it is very tempting!)

Only ten days to go, and I've just started my first sleeve.  Argh!

Sunday Funnies--The Tenth Doctor

This is going to be short tonight...Sunday is almost over!  But I went to Google Images, and found a couple of memes with the Tenth Doctor!

And think of the storage space in the Tardis!

And you realize it wasn't you being unable to follow a pattern...

Okay, this isn't the Doctor, but I do love this cartoon!

Have a Happy Halloween!

Sunday Funnies--Cats and Yarn!

Hello!  As you can tell, from my profile picture, I am owned by a cat.  Here's Katie, doing her best to be a scary Halloween cat.

So when I was going through Google Images looking for a theme for today, I found that there are a lot of memes showing cats with yarn.  So...

Sneaky kitty!

Katie doesn't disguise herself as wool to get me to notice her.  She just comes up and plops herself on top of my hands so I can't knit.

I posted on Facebook on Friday that it took me an hour to unravel the yarn barf that came out of the ball of yarn I wanted to knit with.  I would not be happy if I had to unravel due to one of the animals making a mess of it!

I love the cross eyed look as the cat is trying to focus on the needle!

Hmmm.  Maybe one of these days I need to knit a little hat for either Katie or Penn....

Have a good week!

PS. Why, in this day and age, does spellcheck not recognize Google or Facebook?

The Guild Sale has started!!

The Regina Weavers and Spinners Guild annual sale has started!  And there are amazing items for sale!

The handwoven tea towels are always a crowd pleaser, and tend to go fast!  And there are some lovely Christmas items for sale as well!

And shawls and scarves!  These are so gorgeous...someone will be lucky to get these!

Another beautiful handwoven scarf.  And the picture beside is little felted plant holders, and some even have succulents in them.  I have been told that it's pretty near impossible to kill these, but these should go to a home that will take care of them.

And there is handspun to be had!  There are some amazing skeins of handspun yarn, and beautiful items made from handspun.  (The spinning wheel is not for sale!)
And beneath that, we have lots of handmade socks, mittens, and handwarmers.  (okay, I took the picture with mine in the middle).

Have I said amazing enough times?  Really, if you're in the Regina area, stop by the Seniors Citizens Centre at 15th and Elphinstone.  There is no admission fee for this sale--it's free to get in! Get your Christmas shopping started!  The sale is today from 5:30 to 8:00, and tomorrow from 10:00 to 4:00.

And....I saw some lovely goodies just waiting to be munched on...
