Thirty Things

I came across this blog post earlier today.

It has been a windy and grey day today.  I need some colour!

Getting Things Done

I've decided that I'm going to move my craft room down into the basement.  It will give me more room to work on my quilting in particular, and give me more storage space for the rest of my craft supplies.  I'm slowly gathering things to create the space, and gathering ideas on how to set it up.

I've actually had some finishes in the last week!  My friend Val has a new grandson, and I thought I would try to make something for him.  Doing anything quilty is out of the question, as Val is also a quilter.  I decided to try making baby hats for him...I've never made hats before or knit in the round.  I'm pleased that they turned out well!

Val sent me a picture of the baby wearing his new hat.

And of big sister with the Beanie Baby I gave her (big sisters need presents too!)

Had a lovely visit with Val while she was here.  Looking forward to going to visit her and Michael in June.

I liked making the baby hats so much, I decided to make a hat for myself.

Amazingly, it fits on my large head!

Friday the 13th

I'll admit it; I'm triskaidekaphobic.  When I've been in car accidents, its been on Friday the 13th.   For years I refused to drive at all that day.  These days, I try not to drive in the evening.   It's a good day to stay in bed, preferably with the covers over my head.

I'm still on vacation today.  For at least this morning, I'm going to just relax, have a cup of tea and knit.  I started a baby hat yesterday, and hope to finish it today.  The baby is coming next Wednesday.

Our resident ducks are back!  A pair of ducks have made our green space their summer home for the last few years.  Yesterday morning when I let Penn out, they went flapping off quacking loudly in protest.

I went to Dutch Growers earlier this week.  So nice to be around growing things!  Stepping into the greenhouse, the aroma of damp earth and growing plants was relaxing.  I treated myself to a plant.

Road trip!

The Sister and I (plus the dogs) drove up to Saskatoon for the day.  We went to do a little shopping, eat lunch at Fuddruckers, and just enjoy a change in scenery.

A stop at Periwinkle was mandatory.  I'll take a picture of what I bought and post it tomorrow.

Since we had the dogs with us, we drove out to the U of S to walk them.  I came across this new water fountain there:

It even has a fountain at dog level!  I was going to let Penn have a drink, but it wasn't working (yet?)

Took a couple of pictures of birch trees there

I may play with these (and a few others) on Picmonkey, and see what I can do with them.

Downtown Saskatoon.

If the weather holds, I think I'll go for a walk around Wascana Lake, and get some new pictures of the Legislature Building.

WIP Wednesday

My quilting muse has deserted me.  I haven't worked on any of my quilting UFO's for a couple of months.  I have been knitting though.

I'm using a fingering weight yarn to make this, so I took a picture using my smartphone as comparison:

I really need to clean the screen on that phone!

I'm also working on a shawl using bulky Noro Iro.

I'm feeling a bit better today.  Maybe the new dosage on the meds has started working (fingers crossed).
